Severe, pale-eyed, and handsome, charismatic rancher Phil Burbank inspires fear and awe in those around him. When his brother George brings home his new wife Rose and her son Peter, Phil wages a war of intimidation and cruelty. Over time, Phil appears to take the boy under his wing.
