The Assessment

In a not-so-distant future, where resources are scarce and tightly controlled, even the dream of having a child is not a given. A baby is no longer a decision—it’s a privilege. Couples who want to be parents must pass a shadowy and mysterious test to prove they’re worthy. Children, in this world, are a double-edged sword—a heavy responsibility, but also a rare luxury that only the most “deserving” can experience. Mia (Elizabeth Olsen) and Aaryan (Himesh Patel) are one of the few couples allowed to take the test, having successfully navigated a brutal selection process. Now, as they brace for the assessment that will decide their future, “lucky” is the last thing they feel. Desperate to prove themselves eligible, they face their evaluator, Virginia (Alicia Vikander)—cold, unpredictable, and impossible to read. For seven grueling days, she subjects them to a surreal sequence of challenges that will push them to the brink, making them question not only themselves, but the basis of the test itself.
