A decisive attack on the monastery located in the hills of Monte Cassino is about to take place.  The Second Polish Corps has been given the task to lead the final assault, a pivotal moment in the Italian Campaign in World War II. The story of the battle in RED POPPIES is told through the eyes of Jędrek, a young boy corrupted by his harrowing experiences in a Soviet gulag. Meeting the soldiers of the Second Corps and falling for beautiful nurse Pola, Jędrek undergoes a profound transformation.
