Simona Kossak

Watch Trailer

Lacking the specific talent that has defined her family for generations, Simona Kossak grows up knowing no warmth from her authoritarian mother. After graduating from university, she leaves everything behind – her home, tradition and social norms – and accepts the position of a scientist in Białowieża. She settles in the middle of the forest, in a house with no electricity or running water, surrounded by nature, living her life on her own terms. There, in the wilderness, she meets a photographer, Lech Wilczek, who shares her love of nature and the need for freedom. Their extraordinary relationship gets painfully challenged and Simona defends both her position as a naturalist and the place of a young woman in a world dominated by men.
